Authortook "High Chapparel" star, Lief Erickson, to Arctic Gas' Prudhoe Bay Test Facility in the mid 1970s to make a film, "The Arctic, The Wildlife, a Pipeline." The film won an award and was well received nationally. Lief, now deceased, was a plain spoken, cigar chompin' hero...well liked by all who came to know him. Later, Anchorage ad agency Murray, Kraft & Rockey (i.e. now, Bradley/Reid), hired him as Tesoro Alaska's spokesman.

3. Booking. The author urges industry travelers to book through Alaska and Canadian agencies. It's politically smart and the agents are familiar with niche concerns only a resident could know. But for a good overall review of Alaskan and Canadian travel options, also look here.
