E. M. (Ed) Small, is a highly respected authority on the North American energy industry. Mr. Small advises clients on oil and gas strategy and on the interface of supply, transportation, and markets between Canada and the United States, with a special emphasis on natural gas fundamentals. He assists clients worldwide in understanding opportunities and developments in Canada as well as assisting in developing strategies that enable firms to better respond to the challenges of changing energy markets.
Mr. Small is the founder and principal of CanAm Energy, an independent oil and gas consulting firm. He was previously Director, Canadian Energy for Cambridge Energy Research Associates and head of CERA’s Calgary office. Prior to that he operated CanAm Energy specializing in marketing of natural gas in North America. Previously he was Director of Natural Gas Marketing and Supply for Suncor Inc., responsible for the corporation’s North American natural gas marketing activities. Before that, he was Regional Manager for Dome Petroleum, where he directed West Coast marketing. Mr. Small is the author of many reports on Canadian Natural Gas Supply, Gas Movement and Transportation, Storage and other fundamentals. He has been involved in numerous Strategic Studies for clients ranging from Market Analysis and Outlooks to Strategic Opportunities and Directions. He holds a BSc from the University of Saskatchewan.
