6/19-7/15: I work with
... at the ... Consulate General. ... forwarded to me your email letter
Northern Gas Pipelines." I cover Alaskan policy issues for the Consulate, and I
would very much appreciate being added to your distribution list for the letter.
The copy that ... forwarded looks most informative. D.D. Dave: ... My view is
that (as Wally Hickel insists) Alaskans are the resource owners. That's why the
Ak. PFD is justified. So, we need to use this opportunity for people to pay
attention to the process going on to plan the gasline, and take seriously that
we have a part in the future of the State. It's not possible for everyone to
become an expert in resource development, but we can all pay attention to the
kind of studies, planning, special interest groups, and public interest
concerns that are involved. It would also be possible to have a weekly TV
program on the Community Access cable Ch. 44 about this...but even with a
digital camera and volunteer help it would probably demand too much time to
accomplish. This is such an important issue that it merits much more widespread
discussion and visibility. Thanks again, Dave, for facilitating the
discussion! J.C. Will you please email me your fax number. I do have an
article here that you might be interested in.... S.H. Valdez bears... I
wonder how they got down??????? Amazing! SUNSHINE (See
photo, but author's contacts say bears were seen at Prudhoe Bay, at the East
Operating Area, 800 miles from Valdez. If we find out more, we'll note here.
-dh) Dave: Thanks so much for putting me on the list - and for your nice
note. You're providing a great service in bringing Canadians and Alaskans
closer through the publication, and your work is greatly appreciated. D.D. Hi
Mr. Harbour, Is it OK with you if I advertize your website on the GCI Community
Calendar on Ch. 44? I would like to spread the word about your site beyond
oil industry people. I hope that more Alaskans will keep an eye on this
decision-making process about the gasline, and help make the decision that's
best for Alaska. I was directed to your website when I called Gov. Knowles
office to request that they announce the upcoming Legislative hearings in July
on the gasline Commission's website. Could you also place an announcement of the
upcoming agenda for the July 17,18 Legislative hearings? ... Thanks for your
efforts to provide a clearinghouse of info on the gasline! I'm not an industry
person...just concerned about the decisions on this issue. I'm interested in
whether the State is thoroughly gathering info and analyzing ALL the options.
Do you know if there is discussion in the Legislative Committee to do a "best
public interest finding" on the gasline issue? J.C.
Please e-mail me the Presentation Ken (Thompson)

Thanks Dave, It was good to see you testerday. Thanks for sending a copy of the
publication and the photo.
Jack was my boss in 1973, when he was the Borough
Mayor. I have admired him for a long time! J.A.
My usual
resemblance to Kevin Costner is lost but otherwise looks good. J.K. I will
forward it on. Nice pictures. Thanks. J.S.
Thanks Dave...great

B.W. I am running from a ... to a dinner meeting so I cannot give you a
call tonight. Thank you for the note; I always want to know who is providing me
information (it must be the researcher in me). It is a great public service,
and I thank you for doing it. I would enjoy having coffee one day. ... I
wish I could make lunch but I have other plans -- Ken testified in oil and gas
... and he is a great speaker with very thoughtful ideas. I am glad he is back
in Alaska. Look forward to meeting you. G.G. Who is sponsoring these Emails?
G.G. Yes - I did receive the key (map) I was
interested in - that was the one that showed the two competing routes for a gas
pipelline from the Alaskan North Slope and also the Mackenzie Delta region. The
recent Cheney/Bush energy plan document was a bit vague about those routes.
Thanks very much for the help. C.T. Dave, be sure to check out the editorial

P.H. Many thanks, Dave, for sharing this material. If possible, I would

Makes one think, and puts things
