Journal report of Congressional action: "The Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) ruling eliminates 95% of smog-causing nitrogen oxides and 90% of small
particulate matter soot from diesel emissions. By reducing these emissions, the
EPA is hoping to prevent “…8,300 deaths and 360,000 asthma attacks believed to
be caused by these pollutants…”
